FGS started the first all girls league in 2014 in Salisbury MA. 

In 2023, the New England Patriots partnered with Future Gen Sports to pilot a Spring season dedicated to girls' flag football at the high school level. The league began with eight teams in 2023. In 2024, the league nearly tripled to 23 teams. With over 50 percent of girls flag athletes having never played a team sport, the Patriots are dedicated to growing the sport with the end goal of sanctioning the sport at the varsity level throughout all six New England states.
